Mic Check: Culture, Power, and the Politics of N.C. Hip-hop
From negro spirituals to the blues, Black Southerners historically have relied on music to document the social ills of America and resist state-sanctioned violence against Black bodies.
Mic Check: Culture, Power, and the Politics of N.C. Hip-hop is a two-part virtual panel series that profiles the multimedia project created Jennings. This series features North Carolina-based Hip-hop artists Joshua "Rowdy" Rowsey, J. Gunn, Troya, Jooselord and Dasan Ahanu.
Watch the Mic Check interviews below where Black On Black Project founder Michael S. Williams discusses issues like police brutality, entrepreneurship and liberation with the artists. You can also watch the full Mic Check programs at the bottom of this page.
