Join Charlotte-based artist Marcus Kiser, curator Alexys J. Taylor and mental health practitioners Dr. Stephanie Irby Coard and Dr. Tarra Bates-Duford for a conversation about mental health and the Black community. The conversation will use Kiser’s solo exhibition, MMXIX: I'M GLAD YOU BELIEVED IN ME, as a starting point to look at how we handle grief, how we discuss mental health with our youth and the complexities of how race and gender play a role in understanding mental health. Event is free, but please register.
The exhibition is on view at Artspace through October 31. Partners on this event include NAMI-Wake County, Black On Black Project and The Mary Duke Biddle Foundation.
