Community Conversation - "The Perspective of the 'Others'"

  • Leland Cultural Arts Center 1212 Magnolia Village Way Leland, NC, 28451 United States (map)

Join The Black On Black Project on Thursday, April 18 for a community discussion based on the artwork in the exhibition “The Perspective of the ‘Others’” at the Leland Cultural Arts Center. Learn more about the exhibition here. #BlackOnBlackLCAC

Moderated by Black On Black Project founder and curator Michael Williams, the topics will be on the role of the artist in the community and how media has portrayed people of color over time. The conversation and panel will be made up of local artists and artists featured in the exhibition. The event is free, but please RSVP via Facebook.

Exhibition statement: Society hasn't always depicted people of color in a fair way or taken into consideration our perspective on the world around us. Who gets to decide what perspective is shared as the one that counts? "The Perspective of the 'Others'" is an exhibition where artists of color share their thoughts on identity in their own voice.

This project was supported by the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural & Cultural Resources. www.NCArts.org
