The Black On Black Project and VAE Raleigh present Black On Black V2 at ATC
The Black On Black Project is back at American Tobacco Campus in Durham with the group exhibition called "Black On Black V2." In association with the 2018 Beats n Bars Festival, the exhibition is available for viewing in the Reed Building Lobby through November 16.
The official opening is on Saturday, August 25 starting at 11 a.m. Visitors can view the artwork and meet the artists. Its free and open to the public. The Beats n Bars main stage will kickoff at 4:45 right outside the gallery of art. This year's headliner is Dead Prez! Get tickets here. You'll need wristbands for Beats n Bars Festival entry.
"Black On Black V2" features paintings, video, large sketches and mixed media pieces that aim to add historical context to some of the issues people of color have faced in the United States.
This exhibition first appeared at VAE Raleigh in 2017. See the exhibition statement below:
Were seeing imagery that reminds us of Los Angeles in 1992, Tulsa in 1921 and Wilmington in 1898. These incidents seem to show disregard for the lives of people of color. But we bounce back because there is tremendous strength within our community.
"Black On Black V2" brings together artwork, performances and programs that seek to offer comfort, support and inspiration as we navigate through our day-to-day. Contribute to the conversation: #BlackOnBlackV2 #TheBlackOnBlackProject.
