Installation statement: 2020 began with COVID-19 and quarantine, and we continued to see more hashtags, this time for Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and others. The hurt, anger and frustration has culminated in weeks of protests around the United States including in cities throughout the Triangle.

"A Space for Reflection" is an outdoor installation centering Black artists and artists of color who captured this time through their work, which was originally featured on downtown buildings. The artists make visible the layers of centuries-in-the-making systemic issues that are the roots of this country's social unrest. Artists in this installation all created artwork through the Raleigh Murals Project's Public Art Response Fund.

Curated by Linda Dallas and Michael S. Williams.
